A Wonderful Place to Visit

The White Hart

We are approximately 1 mile from Greenodd which is an estuary with some great flatfish and also bass and cod. On the other side of the estuary is the private estate of Holker Hall, the secret venue of the local fishermen in the know.
We are also 30 minutes from Arnside which has been classed by Sea Angler magazine as probably the best flattie venue in the Northwest.

If you are into your hills, Mountaineering, Fell Walking and Rock climbing. There are plenty of famous Lakeland fells to master.
If water sports are your thing, then there is an abundance of opportunities for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking available locally.

About us

After a day in the Lake District, you can enjoy a satisfying meal in the bar, dining area or beer terrace. The west-facing beer terrace offers beautiful woodland views. Seating for up to 50 people, the terrace is bathed with sunshine from midday until the sun sets over Colton Fell.

The well-stocked horseshoe-shaped bar boasts five well-kept cask conditioned real ales from Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, Ulverston Brewing Company, Bowland Brewery, Cumbrian Legendary Ales and many more from local and further afield breweries.

Once fed and watered you can retire to one of our bedrooms, which all have ensuite/private bathrooms and provide views of surrounding woodland and the village.

"Bargain for such a lovely, relaxing stay. After a long, cold day hiking this was just perfect for us. So welcoming, warm, clean and cosy, with great food and selections of drinks to relax in this great little picturesque, country pub. The staff where really friendly too, very smiley and helpful, nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. The bar man on shift when we arrived was really friendly and breakfast lady and chef went above and beyond for us. Cannot wait to re visit this little gem. Everything yous want for a getaway from the city for a wee stop over on a country side break."
